Melanie C was recently in Portugal to promote Live HIts, a dvd with the big hits from her solo career. We took the chance and spoke with the artist and we discovered some special moments in her life.

VIP - You're in Portugal to promote her new work. Do you feel you are welcome here?
Melanie C - Yes. Portuguese audience is fantastic and very nice.

VIP - What other caractheritics do you like in the portuguese?
MC - They're very sexy. I love people with dark eyes and hair.

VIP - What does this dvd to offer to portuguese audience?
MC - The biggest hits I had in Portugal - First Day Of My Life and Better Alone - are in this DVD. We invited fans from all over the world to come to this show. For this reason the public was excited and made a good atmosphere.

VIP - What's the reason's that can make this work a success?
MC - During the 7 years of my solo career I made many beautiful songs and the most part of them are in Live Hits. The work is divided in two sectiosn: one accoustic very calm, and another electronic more rocky.

VIP - Do you have any new projects?
MC - Yes I'm working in a new album that'll be out next year.

VIP - The music When You're Gone had a huge success. Did you liked to work with Bryan Adams?
MC - Yes, I was enchanted when Brayn invited me to do the song. The song was very cool and we had lots of fun. He is fabulous. I feel lucky for having a friend like him.

VIP - Do you intend to do another duet, who knows with a portuguese musician?
MC -Why not? It's definetely one thing I would like to repeat.

VIP - Where do you get the inspiration to do your songs?
MC - I get inspired in places and in life. the Emotions we feel, the things that happen and the world it self it's a source of inspiration.

VIP - How was the Spice days?
MC - It was crazy times. I felt like I was realizing my childhood dream.

VIP - How old were you?
MC - twenty years old.

VIP - Do you regret anything?
MC - I don't regret anything. At this moment I'm alright with my personal and professional life. The only thing I may regret is drinking too much at some partys (laughs)

VIP - Do you remember any particular moment?
MC - There's a moment I remeber specially. I've always been a big madonna fan and I had the chance to meet her with the Spice Girls at the MTV Music Awards. Apart from being in the US, in that amazing show, I met one of my idols. It was a Special night.

VIP - Did you expected to have such a huge success with the band?
MC - We always wanted it. We felt there were something special. For this reason we united our energies to achieve success, but no one could predict it would be that big.

VIP - Why did you left the sporty image?
MC - Because my body changes and I became a woman.

VIP - Were you sad when the band ended?
MC - It was a mixed feelings. First I was sad when Geri left. Then we carried on the four of us, and after the 3rd album we decided to follow our solo careers. It was a sad time but also a relief. We were working too much and needed some rest.

VIP - Do you keep in touch with the other girls?
MC - Yes. I saw EMMILY (in fact they're refering to emma) recently. She was in a british tv show and I went there to support her. I saw Victoria in the beginning of this year. I don't see Mel B and Geri for a while now. But we still keep in touch.

VIP - Some of them became mothers. When will be you turn?
MC - I'm going trhough fantastic moments in career and having a child now would demand my entire attention. And at this moment I don't have the time for that, so I can't have babies. But definetly one day I would like to be a mother.

VIP - Do you dram on marrying?
MC - I never dreamt with marriage. I don't need to get marryed to see that I wann be with my freind for the rest of my life.

VIP - Mel B is actuallu pregnant. How do you face the fact that Eddie Murphy doesn't assume the paternity?
MC - I can't believe in all the things the media say. For this reason I rather not comment the subject.

VIP - Where will you pass this X-mas?
MC - I always passed X-mas with my family. X-mas means turkey, sweets, many drinks, many hours of sleep and many TV.

VIP - What's the best present you could get this year?
MC - The best present would be that Portugal loves my DVD and that my new album can be a huge success.

VIP - What do you like the most: giving or receiving?
MC - Giving undoubtedly! It's funnier.

VIP - When will you return to our country?
MC - Maybe in March

étaient venus féter la nouvelle année
en s'éclatant sur la musique de Mel!
Ce concert ponctue définitivement l'année 2006
pour Melanie C , et son Beautiful Intentions Tour,
le nouvel album est prévu pour Mars 2007
